Someone once said to me, "all you need is dreams" I often come back to that sentiment in my mind, Because it's bullshit. All of it. It's all well and good for people to make statements that have such Romantic twists and deep thought out meaning, but honestly think before you say things because IT may sound like a nice inspirational one line but YOU just sound like a prat. If all I need is dreams then why can't I put on my resume "Dreams that one day she'll marry Matt Smith". Because thats not going to get me a job. Is it?
There's so many deep emotional quotes about dreams and they are looked upon as new age treasure but in reality a dream is standard to everyone. Dreams aren't all achievable with the right application either, another lie that we feed in to society from a young age. If people who start bands for example only have a dream and no talent, then they'll sound shit. Yeah maybe they'll have a good lyric or two but other than that the guitarist wont be able to play for shit and everyone knows you need a solid rhythmic guitar solo to get the audience going. If the only thing our good doctors and nurses had were dreams then we'd be in a very sorry state, "Yeah sorry I accidentally punctured your lung when I was attempting to take your pulse but can I interest you in a dream I had about a friendly cactus as you slowly die?" Sounds good to me. If you want to dream you need to comprehend the brilliance of hard work and apply some hint of reason. I have nothing against ambition, only the emptiness of false hope dreams can instil. Call me cynical.
Anyway, why waste your life dreaming. If you spend everyday thinking about he future and how things might work out you'll never enjoy the best of life. The little affirming moments that make your day will one day be the little moments you tell your grandchildren about. Like the crap gigs you go to that have the best atmosphere or cocking up a crossword and then finishing it with words that were never meant to fill those spaces. It sounds like the shitest thing but it's not, it's the feeling of knowing nobody else put those words in that space, and for a little while you have something that purely yours.
Yeah my life must sound enriching.
The sun has come out. Many people appear pleased by this fact. Don't get me wrong I don't like winter but really, is the amount of current U.V rays necessary? I'm pale. Awful pale. I know a ginger less pale than myself. Once I got burnt walking from a building to a car. It wasn't even a considerable distance between said places. I HATE the sun with a burning passion, one that could convert hydrogen to helium causing nuclear fusion (yes that was a sun related physics joke, and what?). So why it had to come early I cannot comprehend.
Finally I wish to say: SUBMARINE IS THE BEST FILM EVER. It will be a British classic. Richard Ayoade star of the IT crowd directed it, it's his debut film, Alex Turner did the music and the cast appear to be fresh off cbbc, (the best place in the world) with the main roles being played by Craig Roberts (Tracy Beaker, young Dracula and i'm in love with him.) and Yasmin Paige (Ballet shoes, sarah jane adventures). The film Is just pure brilliance, It's classically British and it's so easy to relate to. The main character isn't the stereotypical American teen movie hero, he's just like any 15 year old boy, he thinks bullying is wrong but he joins in, he does stupid things but for the right reasons, and he acts how you would expect him to. It's a film thats makes you experience hilarity and then depression straight after, the range of emotions it takes you through is overwhelming and everything about it is well thought out but seems spontaneous. It's perfect because it draws attention to the little things in the way a young persons mind works. It focuses on things that are unimportant and overlooks the seemingly obvious. Submarine does what the brits do best. Takes the piss. Out of everything and everyone and it's okay because it's that classic british sense of humour. I honestly think it's the best film of this year. I do.
See youz
