Not going to lie here, Valentines day is a nice idea. Showing someone you love you appreciate them is a nice thing to do, But once a year? Are you having a laugh? And anyway valentines day should surely be a little more about the religious festival rather than the commercialised, egotistical extravaganza we all know too well. Shouldn't we be celebrating Saint Valentines sacrifice for love? He died not only for marrying couples who weren't meant to be married, but for being an active christian. I'm sure the martyr to love wouldn't be best pleased with the festival that has become a reminder to all the single people that yes, they will die alone with 18 cats.
I have been spending the build up to valentines day listening to possibly the best love song by the Beatles, it was clearly written while John Lennon was in his jealous days and I think the fact it's lyrics are so nasty and the chords are a jolly blues progression makes it so real and so easy to listen to. It's called 'Can't do that' and it was first released on the B side of 'Can't buy me love'. The guitar solo is said to be heavily influenced by Wilson Pickett which really comes through. It's written around the theme of sexual paranoia and jealousy and it bears so much resemblance to modern day romance. It's also really catchy and oddly enough I think it was their best song. Although i'm not really the biggest Beatles fan this is maybe one of my favourite songs of ever.
Something else you may be interested in is a singer called 'Zowie', I'm not really all that into her music, but she is really good. Some people are comparing her to Lady GaGa but she's nothing like her, I think she's got her own style and sound. I do find her lyrics quite dull and repetitive but people in search of a good beat will quite like her, she's a bit to glam pop for me though.
Well thats all,
LOVE,
Aisling

Mystery Jets 09/02/11
Last night me and my friends went to see the Mystery Jets and it was quite possibly one of the best concerts i've ever been to. They were really impressively good, but what really got my attention was the second support act, They were called Fiction and they were absolutely brilliant, you could tell they were passionate, and most their songs are mainly focused on the music not the lyrics like most modern bands are today. However the most exciting thing about them was the drumming, There were two drummers who alternated between keyboard and drums and they played standing up. That really reminded me of a much milder version of Maureen Tucker of The Velvet Underground and it was absolutely inspiring, I honestly wish them all the best and I reckon they're going to be big later this year.

Another thing I was fascinated by this week was memes. My sister showed my some on monday and I can't stop looking at them now, I'm wasting my life.
My favourites are:
Courage wolf:

Y U NO guy:

Socialy Awkward Penguin:
And Foul Bachelor Frog:

Yes this is why l will fail all my gcse's. No I will never regret it.
Well thats all for now really. Because my life is so dull that I have nothing else to say. I shall leave you on this note:
LOVE,
Aisling
